Epidural Steroid Injections
We offer Lumbar, Thoracic and Cervical epidural steroid injections to provide relief of pain. These injections are done under fluoroscopy guidance by our Fellowship trained physicians to provide the best results.
Selective Nerve Blocks
We offer Lumbar, Thoracic and Cervical epidural steroid injections to provide relief of pain. These injections are done under fluoroscopy guidance by our Fellowship trained physicians to provide the best results.
Facet Block
The facet blocks help treat spine pain. They can be performed along the entire spine and are very effective in managing spine pain. These injections done under xray guidance can give immediate relief and sometimes such relief can last a few months. However if the pain relief is transient, then a rhizotomy can be done to give more long lasting relief. Our Physician staff can help decide if this procedure will help alleviate your pain.
Celiac Plexus Blocks
The celiac plexus block is helpful in treating abdominal pain arising from the upper abdomen such as the pancreas in patients with pancreatitis, pancreatic carcinoma. In patients with carcinoma if it relieves pain then a neurolytic block can be done under CT Scan to provide long lasting relief of symptoms and provide a relatively pain free existence.
Hypogastric Block
These blocks are a valuable tool in our armamentarium to treat pelvic pain arising from endometriosis, cancer and other conditions. The procedure is done under X-ray guidance and local anesthetic is injected to provide pain relief and improve quality of life. Our team of Physicians will educate you and provide you more information on the procedure after a thorough consultation.
Sympathetic Blocks
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CPRS), also known as RSD is a crippling disease and it can be treated with sympathetic blocks. Stellate ganglion blocks are done in the neck to provide relief from RSD in the upper extremities and lumbar sympathetic blocks are done in the lower back for the lower extremities. Our staff is trained to provide these procedures with X-ray guidance with minimal discomfort to you. Our staff are trained Anesthesiologists and if required can give sedation to help with the procedures.
Spinal Cord Stimulation
This is a great advance that allows our team of Physicians to provide you with pain control and put the control of pain in your hands. This innovative device allows you to control your pain with a remote control device. An epidural lead is placed either by your Pain Physician or your Neurosurgeon. These leads send signal to the spine to block the transmission of signals of pain to the brain resulting in great pain relief and the replacement of the pain signals with a warm comfortable sensation. You can find more about this on our links page with ANS, Medtronics and Boston Scientific. Please click on the links to read more. Our Physicians have been experienced in this therapy and will able to guide you in the process of deciding if this intervention is best for you.
Intrathecal Opiates
Intrathecal opiates are narcotics delivered directly into the spine to provide you with pain relief. By this mechanism we can deliver medications via a pump directly into the spinal receptors and provide you with significant pain relief. Narcotics given by mouth have more side effects and when given spinally can have a more direct effect on your pain control. Prior to having this pump put in our staff will evaluate you and prepare you for this important step in your pain control. You can obtain more information from www.tamethepain.com, a site promoted by the Medtronic company.
Rhizotomy (Neurolysis of medial branches)
If you have pain relief from a facet block our physicians can offer you a Rhizotomy. In literal terms it means cutting of nerves. However in this procedure we burn the nerves with high heat and this provides pain relief withuot affecting the ability to feel. The burnt nerves regenerate with time and provide long lasting pain relief up to five years and more. If the pain returns earlier the nerves can be burnt again. The procedure is done with IV sedation in our offices assisted by a very able staff. It is an outpatient procedure which will not require extensive recuperation and will give you back your life to live with less pain.
Discogram
Our staff is trained to perform this procedure as a diagnostic tool to determine the cause of your pain in the Lumbar, thoracic and Cervical spine. Needles are placed inside the disc that are suspected to be the culprits causing your pain. They are injected with dye and the spread of dye is observed under fluoroscopy. If need be a CT Scan can be obtained afterwards to further correlate the findings. The painful discs will cause you discomfort and allow us to determine the source of your pain. This will allow your surgeon to offer you surgical options and improve your chances of successful surgery or you could be a candidate for Percutaneos Disc Decompression. Our physicians can guide you and help you through this procedure with the least discomfort. We offer sedation services with the procedure to improve your tolerance of the procedure. Our sympathetic staff and Physicians will help you through this procedure and we will coordinate your care with other Physicians to help with the best outcomes for you.
Percutaneous Disc Decompression
Once you have had your discogram this option may be presented to you along with surgical options. A needle is placed inside the disc and with various methods a small amount of disc tissue may be removed (Stryker disc decompressor) or vaporized (Arthrocare) or using new technology under direct vision a small piece of disc may be removed ( Arthro kinetics). Our staff have been trained in all these procedures and will be able to advise you further about these procedures. You can read more about the procedures at our Links page. When you arrange your consultation you can speak directly to our Physicians and obtain more knowledge on these procedures.
Headache Management
We work with your Neurologist who is managing your headaches, we can further augment your care by providing interventions such as Occipital Nerve blocks, Occipital Nerve stimulators, Rhizotomy of your facet nerves in your neck to reduce the incidence of headaches, and other innovative strategies including Botox injections. Arrange a consultation and we can discuss the options with you. Our goal is to provide you with as much pain relief as possible with attention to other factors that cause Headaches. Schedule an appointment to discuss this further with our Board Certified Staff of Physicians. |
